Yes, school is back in session but that doesn’t mean you want to miss the chance on a weekend to take the youngsters fishing. How about that bream (right) that 12-year-old Jake McDaniel of Benton caught using crickets at a pond in Heber Springs this past week. Jake also caught several nice catfish using chicken livers at the same pond. We saw a photo of one of the catfish, and it’s darn-near as big as Jake. Lisa Spencer from Lisa’s Bait Shop in Benton forwarded the photos of Jake to us.
Lisa says that in her area, the bream fishing has been fair in most spots to good but fading at Lake Norrell. It seems in a lot of spots, even with the full moon last Friday the 13th, the bream weren’t as turned on as under typical summer full moons; at least that’s what we were told.
However, we’re happy to report an excellent bream report from Tosha Walker at Lake Catherine. They’re good in Northwest Arkansas on Beaver Lake and Lake Sequoyah, and in the northeast at Crown Lake and Lake Charles. Mike Siefert at Millwood Lake says several kids had a big time catching bream at Jack’s Isle recently, too.
