Cast a line with Game and Fish on Free Fishing Day
CHEYENNE – Bring your family and join employees from the Game and Fish Department for a free day of fishing at Sloans Lake in Cheyenne on Free Fishing Day, Saturday, June 1.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing rods, or you can borrow one of ours. We will provide tackle and bait. Meet us near the boat dock at Sloans Lake in Lions Park from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. Sloans Lake contains a variety of fish for anglers, including rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, black crappie, pumpkin seed and yellow perch.
Free Fishing Day is held annually on the first Saturday in June. No fishing license is needed to fish on this day only. Free Fishing Day applies to all waters in Wyoming with the exception of Yellowstone National Park and the Wind River Indian Reservation. All fishing regulations, such as creel and size limits, fishing hours, and stream closures, still apply.
