Fishing aboard the Big Baby with Captain Ed Yannetty of Islamorada, Fla., Daniels earned the win with a 59.5-pound fish.
Also fishing from the Big Baby, fellow angler Herb Kettenacker of Liberty Township, Ohio, placed second with a 36.6-pound dolphin.
Zippy Lesko of Islamorada earned the top junior angler award for his 18.5-pound fish. He fished with Captain Matt Howell out of Islamorada Boat Center.
The prize for the largest wahoo was awarded to Jason Swensson of Tavernier, who caught a 37.3-pounder from the Good Karma with Captain Ryan Van Fleet at the helm. Sean Walters of Key Largo, Fla., landed the tournament’s largest tuna, a 3.4-pounder.
Known as a family-friendly angling event to kick off dolphin season, the tournament has raised nearly $90,000 in scholarship monies in honor of Nick Sheahan, a Coral Shores High School student who died tragically in 2004.
