As of July 16, 2015 approximately 92% of the annual black sea bass quota has been landed. The commercial possession limit for black sea bass will remain at 10 fish for all gear types.
At the current rate of landings (>5% weekly) the entire annual quota will be landed before the end of July.
Horseshoe crab season is closed for the remainder of the year. Horseshoe crab harvest is prohibited.
The possession limit for the commercial harvest of summer flounder will remain 100 pounds. The possession limit will be periodically adjusted, if needed, to achieve 100% of the annual quota be landed by December 31. The objective of periodic adjustments is to maintain a constant rate of landings for the remainder of the year, without exceeding the quota. As of July 16, the landing rate is about 2% per week and a total of 60% of the 2015 quota has been reported landed.
The possession limit for the commercial harvest of scup will remain 1,000 pounds for all gears except lobster pots which is 10 fish. The possession limit will be periodically adjusted, if needed, to achieve 100% of the summer period quota be landed by October 31. The objective of periodic adjustments is to maintain a constant rate of landings for the remainder of the year, without exceeding the quota. As of July 16, the landing rate is about 4% per week and a total of 31% of the 2015 summer period quota has been reported landed.
Reminder: The closed season for lobster is September 8 through November 28. This closure applies to all gears, recreational and commercial in Lobster
Management Area 6 (Long Island Sound).
No person engaged in commercial fishing shall possess or land Atlantic menhaden in excess of 6,000 pounds.
The possession limit for the commercial harvest of bluefish remains at 500 pounds.
The possession limit will remain at 5,000 pounds.
No person engaged in commercial fishing shall possess or land weakfish in excess of 100 pounds.
The possession limit is 10 fish during all open seasons. The current open season is July 1 through August 31. The fishery is closed September 1 through October 7, reopens October 8 through December 24 and then closes for the remainder of the year December 25.
All of the possession limits listed above apply to the aggregate of all persons on board the vessel per trip or per day whichever is the longer period of time. Transfer of these species between vessels at sea is prohibited.

The Department monitors landings and adjusts trip limits according to Department regulations in an attempt to provide fishing opportunity throughout the year for all participants in the commercial fishery. In addition, the Department strives to provide advance notification of trip limit changes, although this may not always be possible due to rapidly escalating or unanticipated landings. In such circumstances, only a short notification period may be possible.
